The Perth Hyatt offers an afternoon tea in their Cafe Restaurant, which is a gastronomic delight. Set in a contemporary decor, a warm cosy ambience permeates the setting, which is ideal for afternoon tea.

As explained by the staff, afternoon tea offered is a semi buffet style, tea and sandwiches are served to your table and the extensive sweets buffet is open for you to explore. The sandwiches consisted of a choice of five different fillings as well as a wholemeal or white bread option. Beverages offered were unlimited tea and coffee, pre made and served from a large tea/coffee pot by the waitstaff.

The dessert bar caters for an array of tastes. Numerous savoury pastries are available, plus fresh scones warmed on a griddle and accompanied by a choice of three fruit laden jams and double cream. Fruit tarts, cream cakes, shooter deserts and fresh fruit and nuts continue to tantalise the taste buds.

Because the Cafe afternoon tea is very popular, and appeared to be the setting for many family birthday celebrations, you may find yourself sitting in the Atrium adjoining the Cafe. This is not altogether a bad thing, what it lacks in cosiness, it gains in the light music played on the grand piano.

The tables don’t have tablecloths, this is in keeping with the ‘contemporary’ decor. There were nice white fabric napkins and the cups of a fine china, were large enough for a decent cup of tea. Although, because the tea was made and served to all tables, it tasted rather stewed and was a bit on the cool side, but a pot of hot water was delivered when requested. There was no choice of tea and it was served in a pot with tea bags hanging out.

Because it is a licensed facility, there is the option to buy wine or champagne to accompany your afternoon tea.

Summary: A good value for money high tea because of the extensive choice on the buffet. The staff friendliness and knowledge was exceptional.

High Tea Society has found a unique high tea experience – high tea with Hello Kitty at the Royal/T café in LA.

Royal/T is a café/shop/art space, an eclectic mix of retail and contemporary art reimagined in the surrounds of LA’s first Japanese-style cosplay café. Inspired by the meido kissa (maid café) phenomena of Akihabara, Tokyo’s electronic district.

The Royal/T café re-contextualizes the underground culture of Japan that celebrates “cosplay” (costume play). Waitresses dressed in playful maid uniforms with a Lolita-esque touch, serve guests a menu of French- and Japanese-inspired cuisine with a California style.

In the charming historic gardens of Tranby House, the Peninsula Tea Gardens serve a stylish high tea under white umbrellas overlooking the Swan River.

Perisian Afternoon Tea, Peninsula Tea Gardens

This is a special high tea experience in a relaxed and casual atmosphere, with a three-tiered silver cake stand layered with sandwiches, cupcakes, chocolate eclairs and strawberries. Tea is served from individual silver tea pots and Royal Albert china. The only criticism is the tea cooled quickly and was not replenished quickly enough during the high tea sitting. The Peninsula Tea Gardens high tea is named the Perisian Afternoon Tea.

Parisian Afternoon Tea Menu:
Tea sandwiches: smoked salmon and salmon mousse, roast beef and horseradish, ham and dijon mustard, cucumber and cream cheese.
Freshly baked scone served with whipped cream and gourmet strawberry preserve together with a selection of french style petit fours and cakes, served with a pot of tea of your choice.

The café interior is a French Provincial style. In addition to afternoon tea the café also offers an al-a-carte menu.

Peninsula Tea Gardens

The Peninsula Tea Gardens are next to Tranby House one of the first farms in the Swan River Colony, on the Maylands Perninsula. Tranby House is a National Trust building and the earliest residence still standing in Perth.

Biku Tea Lounge is a combination of a tea lounge, restaurant, antiques and bookstore, located just north of Seminyak, Bali.

Biku offers a blend of old world grace and contemporary Bali design. The presentation and polite service will make you feel like royalty. The freshly made scones and sandwiches rival the best top hotel high tea experiences.

The Traditional Afternoon Tea includes tea, scones with jam and cream, finger sandwiches, mini spinach quiche, a selection of sweet treats and finished with strawberries and cream. The tea selection includes the Biku Signature Blend, Masala Chai and Rose tea. For an additional cost a wide range of Limited Edition teas are available. Each tea was served in a tea pot that matched the tea style.

Biku also offers a Children’s Tea Time Menu with fruit tea, juice, scones, cup cake and peanut butter or ham sandwiches.
